ELKHART, In.-- It’s been nearly five months since a hit and run killed three people and injured two others. While the family of the victims are waiting on answers and an arrest, on Saturday they remembered the youngest victim of the tragic accident.
The Smith family let go of balloons in honor of Dolly Smith on what would have been the infant's first birthday.
“I miss the way she laughed, the way she giggled, and the way she always brightened everyone’s day when she walked through the door,” says Dolly’s Aunt Elizabeth Smith.
Elizabeth’s brother and sister were also killed in the tragic hit and run. She hopes her family's presence at the scene of the crash will be a reminder for drivers to stay safe on the roads.
“Let’s just hope nobody has to deal with this again. It’s a tragic event for everybody they shouldn’t have to go through with this, nobody,” says Elizabeth.
The Smith family is holding a fundraiser on Facebook to help the 14-year-old have a good Christmas after such a difficult time this year. To donate, click here.
