Family searches for dog that ran loose during hostage situation in Mishawaka, SBPD investigates
MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- South Bend Police investigators spent much of Monday combing through the home on Conner Drive in Mishawaka that was the scene of an eight-hour SWAT standoff and officer-involved shooting the day prior.
The gunman, holding two children and three adults hostage in the home, was shot by police and is under arrest.
The unidentified suspect's condition is critical according to SBPD.
ABC57 got in contact with a close family member of two of the adult hostages that were inside the home with the suspect Sunday.
They say in the scuffle of the situation, a family dog got loose.
The family is still searching for Shiloh, who escaped the home when the standoff was coming to a close.
They hope neighbors and the surrounding Mishawaka community are able to help in the search for Shiloh.
SBPD says the findings from their investigation will be given to the Prosecutor's Office for review.
