Family shares their story ahead of South Bend blood drive

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Medical Foundation is hosting a blood drive on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at their Ireland Road location.

Blood donors are always needed, and the foundation is looking to hit a goal of 75 donors per day at all their locations.

Managers tell ABC57 News there’s a high need for O+ blood right now in particular.

ABC57’S Dante Stanton sat down with the Ross family this week to learn more about how two young members of their family require blood transfusions to stay alive. Those transfusions don’t happen without blood donors.

The donation process takes about 45 minutes from start to finish.
