Family speaks after babysitter charged with toddler's death

Nineteen-month old Kirk Coleman died while under the care of a babysitter in October 2014.  His caregiver, 58 year old Jackie Rolston of New Paris, has been charged in his death.

Rolston was charged on Friday with battery resulting in the death of a child.

In 2006, Rolston was charged with battery upon a child and neglect of a dependent. The battery charge was dismissed and she was found guilty of neglect of a dependent.

The family said they never thought to look into Rolston's background, and now they're urging all parents and grandparents to know who you're trusting with your children.

In October 2014, Rolston called emergency services saying Kirk was choking.  Hours later, Kirk passed away.  The coroner determined Kirk died as a result of blunt force injuries.

An Elkhart county judge has issued an arrest warrant for Rolston.

We went to Rolston's home to speak with her but no one answered the door.
