A quick punch of snow and cold
GARY, Ind. – 25-Year-Old Rashad Cunnigham was shot and killed this weekend by an officer in Gary, Indiana at East 23rd Avenue and Kentucky Street.
Cunningham was killed while police were doing a traffic stop, police say.
Cunnigham’s family sent a letter to the Mayor asking for police footage of the shooting, but they have received no response thus far.
“He was in the front of his house parked in a car when, according to two eyewitnesses, the police approached the car and, without any provocation by Rashad, shot five to six shots into the vehicle, tragically killing Rashad Cunningham,” Andrew Stroth, the family’s civil rights lawyer, said.
Witnesses claim Cunningham had a gun on his lap during the encounter, but it is alleged that he never reached for the weapon.
The family hired a civil rights lawyer as they fear they won’t get the full story from the city on what truly happened.
