Fans fill the stands to see Fowler at Four Winds Field

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -

All-Star Dexter Fowler of the Chicago Cubs drew in a sold-out crowd to Four Winds Field during his rehab stint with the South Bend Cubs.

“It’s honestly surreal to see him play at a smaller ball park that’s not major league. You don’t see that every day,” said fan Clint Lowenhar.

Many fans brought their families to the game.

“It’s great to realize the importance of hanging with family and having a good time kind of get your mind off the stresses of everything else,” said fan Eric Gaunt.

Fan DeShawn Easley says Friday’s excitement was a welcome distraction.

“Through all the negativity that’s going on right now in America and in the world it’s needed to be with your family each and every day,” said Easley.

Fowler will also play with the team Saturday and possibly Sunday.
