Fans pass time before Notre Dame night game

NOTRE DAME, Ind. –The anticipation is growing on Notre Dame’s campus just hours away from the first night game in 21 years at Notre Dame Stadium. Fans aren’t having much trouble staying occupied until kickoff. On Friday people blanketed campus to check out the stadium, cheer at the pep rally and even take in some fireworks.

Friday afternoon both Irish and Trojans fans walked the famed Irish tunnel. Everyone taking in the sights, including the new Irish helmets, agreed the atmosphere of Notre Dame is something special.

"It’s incredible. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life,” said Irish fan Pam Rooks after her first glance of the field.

Even USC fans like taking in the Irish experience. “We always love coming here. It's great,” said Kevin Romano.

Romano is with a group of friends from Southern California, and he said they’re worried about the Midwest weather.

“Tomorrow night is going to be cold that’s all we keep thinking about, long underwear and big jackets,” said Romano.

While it’s all fun on campus on Friday, Saturday is a whole different story for these rival fans.

“SC is going down. Forget that nine point spread. Irish are going to win by 14,” said Notre Dame Fan John Rooks.

Others see it going in a different direction. "High scoring game, USC 35-Notre Dame 28,” said Trojans fan Frank Reyes.

Notre Dame USC kicks off at 7:40 p.m. Saturday night at Notre Dame Stadium.
