NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Tickets for this weekend’s Notre Dame game are the most expensive in college football.
While seats are sold out on Notre Dame’s website, fans are scrambling for stubs however they can.
South Bend is expecting thousands of visitors over the weekend for the Irish and Bulldogs game.
Tickets cost about as much as the travel expenses.
“I’d put it right up there with the ringside seat I had for the Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran fight,” Irish fan Joe Moreland said of his seats.
Notre Dame fan Ray Shaffer agrees.
He came in from Atlanta for the game.
“Even with connections, it was very expensive,” Shaffer said.
As of Thursday, Stub Hub had just one seat left.
Vivid Seats ranged from $505 to $1757.
Georgia fans are also showing up in town.
Andy Henderson and his friends traveled north without tickets.
“It’s been impossible so far! We’ve talked to as many people as we know and all the tickets are locked up,” Henderson said.
The Bulldogs fan is optimistic.
“We’re encouraged when we get to the stadium on Saturday, some people will be willing to part with tickets for a reasonable rate,” Henderson said.
As the moments till the game go down, the cost for a ticket goes up.
“We worked on tickets for many months. They were very difficult, and extremely costly, but well worth it,” Moreland said.
Tickets are only guaranteed if purchased directly through Notre Dame.
