Fatal crash in Cass County

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- Around 11:32 p.m. last night Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke reports that his office was called to investigate a fatal crash at the intersection of Mason Street and Gordon Road.

When deputies arrived on scene they saw a 2004 Saturn Ion on its roof in a field.

The vehicle had multiple people in it. The driver of the vehicle 19-year-old Matthew Ray White of South Bend was pronounced dead at the scene.

The remaining passengers were 18-year old Juliette Moore of Edwardsburg, Michigan, 19-year-old Jonathan Leach of Cassopolis, Michigan, 18 year-old Madison King from Edwardsburg, Michigan, and 18-year-old Harli Grace Harvin of Edwardsburg, Michigan.

All passengers were taken to South Bend Memorial for treatment of their injuries.

Investigation shows that possible factors causing the crash include speeding and alcohol.

The passengers of the crash have been discharged from the hospital and are at home recovering.

The case is still under investigation.
