SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department reports officers responded to the westbound lanes of the U.S. 20 Bypass near Miami Street on the report of crash around 4:30 p.m., Wednesday.
Upon arrival, authorities say they found a van which appeared to have left the roadway, striking the center median.
The driver was found to be unresponsive.
The report states despite lifesaving efforts, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver's name is withheld pending notification of family.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
This case has been handed over to the St. Joseph County Coroner’s Office.
