Father charged with battery of infant

Saturday evening, deputies with the La Porte County Sheriff's Department responded to IU Health La Porte Hospital regarding an infant with serious injuries.

According to police, the 5-month-old boy suffered internal head and spinal injuries.

Police said the boy's father, 24-year-old Cody Gnodtke,  admitted to battering the child prior to Thanksgiving and again on January 23rd.

Gnodtke was charged with aggravated battery, battery causing serious bodily injury, and neglect of a dependent.

Gnodtke posted $25,000 bond and was released on Sunday.

The infant was flown to a medical facility Kalamazoo, according to police. The infant is stable.
