Ferry accident injures 55

NEW YORK -- A high speed ferry crash sent dozens to the hospital Wednesday in New York City.

The ferry slammed into a dock on the lower east side with hundreds of morning commuters packed on board.

Many of injured passengers were standing up, getting ready to get off the boat, when the jolt of impact sent them to the floor.

55 people were injured, one with a serious head injury.

The boat was going about 12 miles per hour when it hit two dock-slips. It's still unclear why the crash happened and is under investigation.
