Fewer commissioners for Benton Harbor?

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. --This fall, Benton Harbor voters will decide if they want fewer city commissioners.

Emergency Manager Joseph Harris, filed election proposals with The County Clerk’s Office on Wednesday.

If the resolution passes, the number of commissioners would drop from eight to just four.

Other proposals filed by Harris include, reducing term lengths from four years to two, and the city manager would have power over the city clerk and treasurer.
