DOWAGIAC, Mich. - Police have identified the person killed in a fiery crash on M-51 near Dowagiac.
The victim is Cody Lee Jenkins, 35, of Decatur, Mich.
The crash involving two vehicles happened just before 1:45 Friday morning about a mile north of Dowagiac, near the Dowagiac Conservation Club.
According to the sheriff's department, the investigation found the driver of a Dodge van, Marie Nicole Daisy, 42, of Hartford, Michigan was driving north bound on M 51 when it collided head-on with a Mitsubishi car headed southbound, driven by Jenkins.
Deputies say Jenkins died at the scene.
Daisy was eventually airlifted to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Deputies say alcohol and drug use may be a factor in this accident, which remains under investigation.
They say Daisy was wearing a seatbelt, and Jenkins was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
