Fighting Irish hockey headed to the Friendly Confines
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Big Ten athletic conference announced Thursday that the Fighting Irish Hockey team will take on Penn State at Wrigley Field on Jan. 3 of next year as part of a showcase event being called the "Frozen Confines."
"The trip to Wrigley Field in 2025 marks the fourth outdoor game appearance for the program in the modern era having previously played at Soldier Field, Fenway Park and Notre Dame Stadium," organizers said. "The Irish most recently played an outdoor game during the 2018-19 season when they hosted Michigan inside Notre Dame Stadium."
On top of the Notre Dame game, four other Big Ten teams will take the ice at Wrigley Field. On top of the three mens's games, there will also be one Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) women’s game,
Friday, January 3, 2025:
- Penn State vs. Notre Dame, BTN
- Ohio State vs. Michigan, BTN
Saturday, January 4, 2025:
- Ohio State vs. Wisconsin (WCHA), BTN
- Wisconsin vs. Michigan State, BTN
All tickets for this event will be sold through Wrigley Field and a variety of presales will be available to priority access groups at 10 a.m. CST.
Ticket sale dates:
- August 27 - 2024 Hockey Season Ticket Members
- August 28 - All other 2024-25 Notre Dame Athletics Season Ticket Members, including premium groups
- August 29 - Notre Dame Football ticket lottery participants, and priority access subscribers
Instructions on how to access the presale will be distributed via email to eligible fans within those groups.
For the general public, tickets will go on sale Friday, Aug. 30, at 10 a.m. CT at Cubs.com/BigTenHockey.
