SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Just before 8 a.m. Wednesday, the South Bend Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 1000 block of Lincoln Way West.

Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed a small working fire on the first floor of a two-story, multi-family home. Crews immediately began fire attack and brought the fire under control within 10 minutes.

One resident was found outside the home with significant burn injuries. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to the hospital. A second resident was also transported to the hospital for observation.

The four remaining residents of the home were uninjured and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
