Fire breaks out at Pointe Apartments on LaSalle Ave

SOUTH BEND — Early Saturday morning South Bend firefighters responded to a fire at the Pointe Apartments on LaSalle Avenue.
When crews arrived they found a fire on a wood balcony that was burning the exterior siding of the building.
Crews put the fire out in about 20 minutes, limiting the damage to the balcony.
Investigators say a discarded cigarette may have caused the fire.
