Fire destroys six city buses

KOKOMO, Ind. -- A fire in Kokomo could impact the transportation of hundreds of Hoosiers.

The fire happened at the city's paratransit garage where six buses were destroyed late Tuesday night.

The fire is under investigation.

Fire officials say a worker may have saved the day.

"Here was one maintenance individual who found fire, alerted everyone to fire, tried to pull them out, as many as they could, before they weren't able to get back in," said Kokomo Fire Department Deputy Chief Nick Glover.

Workers managed to save five buses leaving a total of nine usable buses.
