Fire does $20K in damage to barn

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Firefighters responded to a barn fire on Filbert Road around noon Thursday.

When firefighters arrived to 55064 Filbert Road, smoke and fire was coming from the front of the barn. The homeowners were trying to put out the fire with a garden hose.

Penn and Clay Fire departments worked together to get the fire under control.

The cause of the fire was determined to be embers from a trash fire. There was approximately $20,000 worth of damage to the building, but the contents inside were saved.
