Firefighter arrested on criminal sexual conduct charges

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. -- On Tuesday the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Office arrested a Sturgis firefighter on multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct.



The firefighter is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a youth.



The Sturgis Public Safety Department is conducting an internal investigation.



According to the Sturgis Fire Department, the firefighter was placed on non-paid administrative leave earlier in August pending the results of an internal investigation.



The department expects to complete the investigation later this week and determine the status of the firefighter.



The firefighter's name has not been released.
