ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.—Firefighters battled a house fire north of South Bend on Monday morning.
Officials said the fire started just before 5 a.m. at a house on Lily Road near Auten Road.
Firefighters on the scene said they were able to extinguish the flames quickly. When they arrived at the home, they reported an active fire on a porch.
Three people were inside of the house at the time of the fire.
One man sustained first degree burns while searching for a dog inside of the house.
Two other men escaped uninjured.
Two dogs were also able to get out uninjured.
