Firefighters helping raise money for MDA

SOUTH BEND, Ind. --- Local firefighters were out collecting money at the intersection of Cleveland and Ironwood Saturday.

Fire stations across the country, including the Clay Township Fire Department, are participating in the "Fill the Boot" fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Department members will be walking the intersection Sunday, August 23 and Friday, August 29 to collect change.

"A whole lot of cars are stopping. Very generous community, everyone has been pitching in. It feels good, it's one of the things that we get to do to get back out in our community and help our community outside of our normal every day lives," said Clay Township Fire Department Captain Andrew Roberts.
