SOUTH BEND, Ind – Fans on both sides took in the first football game in the newfound Notre Dame vs. Ball State rivalry.
With South Bend being home to Notre Dame but Ball State being nearby fans had a hard time figuring out who to support.
“Well I said I wasn’t really sure yet on who I was rooting for” Ball State graduate but lifelong Notre Dame fan said.
Dominic Catanzarite also has ties to both schools being a graduate of Ball State as well, and being a Notre Dame fan.
“I grew up a Notre Dame fan, but here I am wearing black and red for the first time in Notre Dame” Catanzarite said.
The Fighting Irish brought the series record to 1-0 with a 24-16 win.
After the game fans said they're excited to see what's next.
