BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- A beloved Southwest Michigan tradition is making its return as the First Crate Strawberry Auction for charity comes back to Benton Harbor Fruit Market.

On May 29, starting at 10 a.m., community members, growers, local businesses, nonprofits, and supporters from across the region are
invited to attend and celebrate the beginning of another growing season in Southwest Michigan.

As part of the kickoff to the market’s 166th season, John Glassman and Glassman Auction Services will auction off strawberries from the first local grower to have fresh, traditional grown berries available for the 2026 season.100% of the proceeds from the auction will go directly to the buyer’s charity of choice.
