First legal sports betting begins at Michigan casinos

DETROIT, Mich. – The first legal sports betting in Michigan will begin inside of Detroit casinos on Wednesday.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board plans to make final approvals on Tuesday for the three casinos in the area to operate physical sports betting.

One or more of the casinos plan to officially open bets at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Michigan legalized sports betting and online gambling late in 2019, but online and mobile sports bets will not be available in the state until 2021.
