First Notre Dame Day raises close to a million dollars

Student and university volunteers who spent more than 29 hours raising money for Notre Dame's first Notre Dame Day brought in close to a million dollars.

Officials say the school raised more than $900,000 with the help from people in 100 countries.

Around the globe anyone who gave a gift to the university could then cast a vote on where they wanted a $250,000 donation to go.

Some categories included financial aid, academics, and athletics.
