Deadline for government shutdown looms Saturday
The wintry system moves through Michiana starting this morning, bringing scattered snow and mixed showers. A general 1” or less of snow is possible on grassy areas. It turns into a rain/snow mix by midday, melting anything that had accumulated.
Lake effect snow develops this evening lasting through Saturday morning. 1-3” is expected in lake effect zones like Elkhart, LaGrange and St. Joseph Co. in Indiana with portions of our Michigan counties getting 3”+ of snow. The winter-like temperatures hold on through midweek with more lake effect possible Tuesday.
Today: Mix/snow showers then lake effect snow, high of 38.
Tonight: Lake effect snow, low of 24.
Saturday: Morning lake effect snow, high of 34.
Sunday: Mostly cloudy, high of 38.
