Five arrested in Benton Harbor drug bust

Benton Harbor, IN – A drug bust netted quite a bit of drug Saturday afternoon for the Berrien

County Sheriff Department’s Narcotics Unit.

 The search warrant execution took place at 4: 15 p.m. at 1041 McAllister Street.

 During a search of the home, the officers found approximately $1,200.00 worth of crack.

$250.00 worth of marijuana was also discovered.

A 9mm hand gun and other evidence of illegal narcotic trafficking were also found inside the home.

The officers also seized $1,112.00 in U.S. Currency.

Willie Simmons Jr, 26, of Benton Harbor was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine with the intent to deliver, 2nd offense and possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver, 2nd offense.

Jonathan Favorite, 24, of Benton Harbor was arrested for possession of cocaine with the intent to deliver, 2nd offense, possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver, 2nd offense and valid misdemeanor warrant for driving on a suspended license.

Jovanna Jackson, 18, of Benton Harbor was arrested for possession of cocaine with the intent to deliver and possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver.

Carla Favorite, 32, of Benton Harbor was arrested for maintaining a drug house, 2nd offense and possession of marijuana, 2nd offense.

Carlton Maben, 52, of Benton Harbor was arrested for possession of marijuana, 2nd offense.

This search warrant execution was the result of a "joint investigation" conducted by the Berrien County Sheriff Department and the FBI.

At the time of the search warrant execution, the officers located and detained the five above mentioned arrested subjects inside of the residence.

There were to children inside the home at the time of the drug bust. It’s reported they were 8 & 12-years-old.

The two juvenile children that were inside of this residence were taken into protective custody and turned over to a relative with assistance from the State of Michgan's Department of Human Services Children's Protective Services Unit.

All of the suspects are being lodged at the Berrien County Jail.
