Five teens taken into custody for possession of marijuana

ELKHART, Ind. -- Five teens were taken into custody after marijuana was found in a vehicle early Monday morning, according to Elkhart Police.

Just after midnight Monday, an officer was near the Pierre Moran Pool on Wolf Avenue when he saw a silver Ford Focus in the parking lot with five people inside and the vehicle running, reports said.

When the officer approached the vehicle, he smelled the odor of marijuana coming from it, police said.

The officer searched the vehicle and located marijuana, reports said.

Four juveniles, a 16-year-old male, two 15-year-old females and a 17-year-old male, were booked for possession of marijuana and released to their parents.

A 17-year-old was arrested for possession of marijuana, leaving home without permission and false informing. He was released to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.
