Four victims injured in New Years Day shooting

SOUTH BEND, Ind. --The call went out just after midnight this morning, to reports of gunfire in the 1500 block of Miami Street near Indiana Avenue.

According to South Bend police, there are now four victims, ranging in age from sixteen to twenty, and investigators are working to determine whether or not the shooting was connected to a nearby party.

We were originally told at the scene there were five victims, but further investigation has led police to change the number of victims to four.

The victims' injuries have been described as non-life threatening.

South Bend police officers are still investigating what exactly lead up to the shooting, and it is unclear how many suspects there are, if there are any.

Neighbors nearby, who declined to speak on camera, have condemned the shooting as a "shameful" way to begin the new year.

ABC57 will continue to provide updates to this shooting as they become available.
