Five years later: The Nappanee tornado

NAPPANEE, Ind -- It has been five years since an EF-3 tornado ripped through the town of Nappanee.

Homes were destroyed and trees were stripped of their bark. And it changed the town.

"You can't put it into words if weren't there to experience it," said Jeff Kitson, executive director of the Nappanee area Chamber of Commerce. "This was not our city. This looked like a war zone. We are just very thankful that no one was hurt and tehre waer only minor injuries."

The tornado traveled for 16 miles and reached speeds up to 165 miles an hour.
