Food Bank of Northern Indiana to receive donation of 10K pounds of chicken

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.—The Food Bank of Northern Indiana will receive 10,000 pounds of chicken drumsticks on Thursday morning thanks to a local partnership.

Miller Poultry and Martin’s Super Markets have teamed up to make the donation.

Marijo Martinec, the Executive Director and CEO of the Food Bank of Northern Indiana said she is grateful for the partnership.

“Protein items are really difficult to obtain and many food pantries don’t get them. That means that people who need the protein, don’t get it. This is a tremendous donation for us,” Martinec said.

Clayton Miller, the Director of Marketing for Miller Poultry said he and the company enjoy being able to give back.

"We're so thankful, and we want to be gracious and feel as if it's a calling for us to give back to those that are less fortunate."

The donated chicken will be distributed in the community through the food bank’s pantries.
