The South Bend Medical Foundation started taking plasma donations Friday from people who have recovered from COVID-19.
The foundation is working to identify and recruit patients who are fully recovered from the virus to donate plasma.
The donated plasma could be used to help treat those with COVID-19.
Tim Baker and his wife got COVID-19 while in Italy. They have fully recovered and want to help others beat the virus.
"This is what’s going to be a game changer, make a difference. It’s organizations like the medical foundation doing things like their doing right here and I hope that this does help our society," Baker said.
There are some requirements to become a plasma donor.
You have to be diagnosed with COVID-19, test positive and be fully recovered and symptom free for at least 28 days.
You can schedule a plasma donation by calling the South Bend Medical Foundation.
