Former Mishawaka football coach dies

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Former Mishawaka High School teacher and football coach Gregg Smith died Monday, Mishawaka Wrestling posted on their Facebook page.

The 1993 graduate of the high school was a wrestler and football player before coaching Cavemen athletes from John Young Middle School, Mishawaka High School, and the Mishawaka Youth Football League, Cavemen Sports reported in a post to their website.

Smith was Science Department Chair at Mishawaka and worked as an Administrative Intern at School City of Mishawaka during the 2020-2021 school year.

The 46-year-old was also Director of Football Operations in 2019.

Smith is survived by his wife, Katie, and two sons.
