Former Mishawaka resident wounded in Afghanistan

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- A local soldier from Mishawaka was wounded by an IED in Afghanistan.
According to his sisiter, Lucas Oppelt, a 2000 graduate of Mishawaka High School, lost the bottom half of his right leg.
Oppelt is a medic in the Army and on his second tour. He's expected to be back home in the States tonight. He currently lives with his family in North Carolina.
