Former Notre Dame quarterback Frank Tripucka dies in New Jersey

Former Notre Dame starting quarterback Frank Tripucka died Thursday morning at his home in Woodland Park New Jersey at the age of 85.

He was on the 1948 football squad that finished with 9 wins no losses and one tie.

His career totals featured 80-of-141 passing for 1,122 yards and 14 touchdowns.

He went on to play pro with the Detroit Lions, the Broncos, the Eagles and the then Chicago Cardinals.

He died of congestive heart issues.
