Four Michigan City Police officers file lawsuit against former mayor

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. – Four Michigan City Police officers filed a civil lawsuit on June 5th against Michigan City and former Mayor Ron Meer. The suit alleges that while in office Meer took actions against the officers after the arrest of the mayor’s stepson Adam Bray.

The officers involved in the lawsuit are Tim Richardson, Francisco Rodriguez, Willie Henderson, and Kyle Shiparski.

The city has also received Notice of Tort Claims from the LaPorte County Prosecuting Attorney, John and Mary Lake, Adam Bray, and Ron Meer as it relates to the situation with Adam Bray.

“I support our police officers, who were engaged in their official law enforcement duties during this unfortunate turn of events. I am not happy that my administration will have to spend the time and effort assisting our insurance defense carrier in these matters especially when the City has many more pressing issues,” said Duane Parry, current Mayor of Michigan City.
