Officials release names of two Benton Harbor shooting victims

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. – Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety were called to two separate shootings in Benton Harbor early Sunday morning, two hours apart. Two individuals were killed and others were injured, according to BHDPS.

BHDPS was called to break up a house party on the 1000 block of Lavette Avenue around 1:30 a.m.

When the police arrived, they heard gunshots at the 900 block of Lavette. Dispatch told BHDPS that a male victim arrived at Lakeland from the scene.

According to official documents, the man was shot multiple times at the 900 block of Lavette.

Aundre Sanders, 22, died from his injuries.

BHDPS was called regarding multiple gunshots at Edgecumbe Avenue, near Forest Avenue, around 3:30 a.m.

The scene was in chaos when officers responded, according to official documents.

Several other Berrien County officials assisted the scene.

Two males and one female were shot at the scene, according to BHDPS.

Joseph “Jo-Jo” Tyson, 26, died from his gunshot wounds.

Robert White, Jr., 26, is in surgery.

Natasha Hill, 34, is recovering from surgery.

Both incidents are being investigated by officials.

BHDPS is unaware if the shootings were related.
