Four students arrested for disorderly conduct Tuesday

ELKHART, Ind. – Four students were arrested on Tuesday after a fight at the Elkhart Area Career Center, the Elkhart Police Department reported.

At 11:08 a.m., an officer working off-duty in full uniform as security for Elkhart Community Schools’ Life Program was monitoring the lunch room when he saw a female student yelling at another student across the room.

The female student then allegedly charged the second student, according to reports.

The officer and a staff member tried to step between the two and while trying to separate them, the officer was knocked to the ground, reports said.

Two more students allegedly joined the fight, and were allegedly either hitting or stomping on the second student, reports said.

All four students, which includes one 14-year-old, one 16-year-old, and two 17-year-olds, were charged with disorderly conduct.
