Four Winds Dowagiac opens Tuesday

DOWAGIAC, Mich. -- The grand opening of the new Four Winds Dowagiac Casino is Tuesday and many are eager to get through the doors.

Monday, the Pokagon band of Potawatomi Indians cut the ribbon and gave ABC 57 a look inside at the finished product before it opens to the public.

The casino features 300 slot machines, 4 table games, as well as a bar and restaurant.

The Four Winds owners say they are excited to be a part of the Dowagiac economy.

"We've experienced this twice before but this one’s more personal. It’s home. It’s in our area our government offices are just three miles down the road a large population of our citizens live here and over 60 percent of our employees will be citizens here," said Matthew Wesaw, Pokagon band chairman.

The new casino is just south of Dowagiac off M-51 south. It opens to the public Tuesday at noon.
