SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Oaklawn is hosting a free “Rockin’ Out for Recovery” event on September 30 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Howard Park.

This event will feature live music from Memphis Underground, local food trucks and stories of hope and recovery.

Recovery coaches from Oaklawn assist residents who are recovering from an addiction or struggling with a mental health issue.

The organization is hosting the event for free, but will be excepting donations that help them carry on and expand their mission.

“For people in active addiction, it is so powerful that one of the first people they see in treatment is someone who knows exactly what they’re going through and is now living successfully in recovery. Traditional providers remain a really important part of treatment, but recovery coaches have a tremendous impact. They’re living proof that recovery is possible,” said Kari Tarman, Executive Director of the Oaklawn Foundation.
