FREEMAN'S FOCUS: ABC57 Kickoff chats one-on-one with Notre Dame Head Coach Marcus Freeman

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame Head Coach Marcus Freeman spoke with ABC57 Kickoff's Allison Hayes during a one-on-one interview during the pre-season this year where he talked about what those first few days were like mentally and emotionally after losing in the national championship, and how he brought his team back from a loss like that.

After the disappointing loss to Miami in the season opener, Freeman spoke with his players in the locker room.

This is not the first time the Irish have been behind the eight-ball facing a must win situation early in the season.

Freeman stated, "I think you go through a wave of emotions. You're disappointed, you're embarrassed, and then you feel bad for those guys that ended their college career on a loss, like those guys, those Jack Kisers and those guys Riley Leonard, those guys have bled for Notre Dame, and you know you're just disappointed. You couldn't help them finish on a high note. But then over time, you go back and you appreciate the journey, you appreciate what that season was. And you know if you're going to only be satisfied, if you win a national championship, you're not going to have a very satisfied life. And you know, you have to appreciate the journeys for what they are, what you learn, and then get ready for the next one."
