Friends and family gather to remember shooting victim

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Monday morning, friends and family gathered to remember a Washington High School senior who was shot and killed.

The group prayed for 18-year-old Christopher Simril at New Generation Christian Ministries in South Bend.

Simril was shot on Sunday night at Walkerfield Park. That is on Ewing Street on South Bend's south side.

There was an assembly at Washington High School Monday morning for Simril where students prayed and were able to talk about the shooting.

We were told that there will be guidance counselors on-hand there to help students through this tough time.

Metro Homicide investigators still do not know who shot Simril or why.
