DOWAGIAC, Mich.--- Friends and family of Heather Nash are still coping with her sudden death. The Patrick Hamilton Elementary School principal died Thursday from complications from knee surgery.
Nash’s death came as a surprise for many. According to statistics from the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, only 0.25 percent of people die as a result of complications from knee replacement surgeries.
“It made no sense,” said Scott Stambaugh, Nash’s pastor. “It’s a very rare situation that happened.”
Nash’s friends and family remember fondly her energy and ability to inspire others. “The biggest impact she’s made is as a principal,” Said Stambaugh, “She inspired those kids and those teachers to just really enjoy what they do and learning and the process.”
A celebration for Heather Nash will be held at Sister Lakes Community Church on Sunday at 2 p.m.
