Funeral held for slain Mississippi officer

MISSISSIPPI -- Those in Northeast Mississippi gathered to say goodbye to a fallen police officer while a nationwide manhunt is under way for the suspect.

A memorial service and funeral was held for Sergeant Gale Stauffer.

The officer was killed Monday in a shootout while responding to a bank robbery.

Another officer was injured in that shooting and is now listed in serious but stable condition.

Stauffer's wife says the healing process will not be easy but it will get better.

"I'm at peace knowing Gale died doing what he loved," said Stauffer’s wife Beth Stauffer.

The FBI, local banks and businesses are offering more than a $150,000 reward for information leading to the identification and capture of the suspect.
