Funeral home's license suspended

The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home's mortuary license has been suspended by the state Board of Funeral and Cemetery Service because the business owes over $250,000 in unpaid taxes.

In addition, the company has allegedly been operating without a Registered Retail Merchant Certificate since April 2013.

The Indiana Attorney General's Office filed a petition with the board to have the company's license suspended.

“By failing to pay nearly a quarter of a million dollars in taxes and by continuing to ignore lawful requirements, this license holder has shown contempt for state authority,” said Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller. “My office as the state's lawyer is compelled to bring this matter before the licensing board to protect and defend the community and lawful taxpayers.”

The company was already under a temporary restraining order preventing the company from taking on any new clients.

Their state license will be suspended for 90 days while the AG's office completes a formal licensing complaint.

The board will determine if any further disciplinary action needs to be taken.
