This game is one to mark in history as it's Notre Dame's first game against an HBCU and FCS opponent--one that Coach Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame players are honored to be a part of. 

This is not about what took place on the field. It's about Notre Dame and Tennessee State. The first time the Irish will face a FCS and HBCU opponent, bringing the culture of an HBCU to Michiana. 

"To be the first team to not only play an FCS opponent, but also, HBCU--it's humbling," said Coach Marcus Freeman.
