Gas leak in St. Joseph County

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- St. Joseph County is responding to a gas leak off Birch Road between McKinley Highway and Jefferson Road.

According to NIPSCO, a third party contracted contacted them at 9 a..m. to say they hit a 2-inch main.
NIPSCO turned off the gas while repairs were made.
According to Penn Township Fire, several people voluntarily evacuated their homes, but they are allowed to return at any time.
