Gas prices on the rise in Michiana

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — If you've filled up recently, then you already know that the price of gas has jumped in the Michiana area.

According to AAA, the price of gas is on the rise across the nation. Right now, the national average is up 15 cents from last week. The average is at $3.65 a gallon.

In Indiana, prices are up 34 cents in the last week. Michigan is up 32 cents and Ohio is up 26 cents.

The United States is producing oil at a record breaking pace. It's twice as much as we did five years ago.

But that oil is not helping American drivers at the pump.

It's expensive to move oil and that's helping to drive up the price.

Locally, gas is about $3.87 in the South Bend metro area. In Michigan, it's about $3.91.
