Practicing fire safety this holiday season
SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- GC Scored, a local nonprofit organization is hosting its inaugural "RUMERTIME Summer Camp" at St. Michael and All Angels' Episcopal Church. The two week camp works to help children and parents with social and emotional development.
10 families are participating in the camp. Each day they participate in team building, meditation, and self affirmation exercises all geared toward helping families assess and process their emotions before acting.
"The will become equipped and empowered to help themselves, especially the parents, and to also help their children," said Dr. Yvonne Larrier, the camp's organizer. "When the children, whether they be alone or at school, wherever they are, they could remember these skills and use them to help them live their best lives."
The camp centers around a five step process that encourages participants to recognize, understand, manage, express, and reflect on their thoughts, interactions, mindsets, and emotions.
"This is already giving us something to hold on to and use everyday in all of our interactions," said Laverne Shaw-Bailey, a parent participating in the camp.
